For lunch we had quesadillas with the leftover pork and cabbage.
For dinner we had wild rice pilaf and fish sticks! For excitingly we had some lovely devils food, coconut and passion fruit cake our friend Tunde made and generously shared in a masked, distanced pick up. It was amazing!
I’m teaching myself how to weave so I watched a lot of weaving videos. We also watched some old GBBO.
For lunch I had some frozen shrimp and Matt had noodles and cottage cheese. I was going to heat up a small marinated pork loin I had taken out of the fridge and slice that up for sandwiches but it was still partially frozen.
For dinner we had leftover stew and added a packet of parboiled farro to it to bulk it up a bit. It was tasty but next time I want to make a stew with potatoes! They are my favorite part and Matt left them out. I had pictured us eating it over mashed potatoes but he had made biscuits instead. It was good to use up the farro though, it had been a special at Aldi that I hadn’t had before so I had been wondering if they were any good. I normally get the them at Target but this was just as good. It’s a really easy way to add grains to soup.
Mitzi is really maturing! She understands cuddling and isn’t trying to nibble on my fingers much. The girls both loved the llamas I bought them for Christmas.
My loom from an Etsy store still hasn’t arrived. It was supposed to be here almost 20 days ago. I actually ordered a second smaller one from Blick last week and I’m hoping that will arrive soon since it shipped via FedEx and I paid $3 extra for home delivery. I’m starting to lose momentum! I bought the online class and watched it weeks ago now. Hopefully I really will like weaving! Winter is so boring I thought it would be nice to do especially around the holidays but I think it will be January before either show up!
We worked on our NYE menu and watched some of La Forêt on Netflix which has one of the actors from the Agatha Christie show in it. I wonder if he is from Northern France because both shows take place there. Or lives there now.!
For brunch Matt made fried rice with lots of egg and ham. We have a lot of leftover ham to go through!
We decorated cookies in the afternoon then he made strip steak, mashed potatoes (using the ricer, his new thing), mushrooms and exciting wedge salads with homemade buttermilk blue cheese dressing for dinner.
We watched some of His Dark Materials on HBO Max.
I’m still waiting for my loom to show up! Mail is so backed up everywhere I can’t complain but it hasn’t moved in over a week.
For lunch we had the last of the leftover pork and some spinach in mi goreng.
For dinner I made a bagged salad and sandwiches with the leftover homemade chicken tenders, blue cheese, lettuce, cherry tomatoes and red onion on the leftover mini sub rolls I bought like 6 weeks ago. Go preservatives! Matt had a zoom holiday party for work so I didn’t want to make anything I had to time.
We caught up on some more The Crown on Netflix.
My loom still isn’t here! Estimated delivery was Saturday. However the candles for Hanukkah my in-laws sent on Saturday arrived today. Both from New York City! Also waiting for my Pearl River order to ship, they had a question about a substitution last week(?) and it doesn’t look like it shipped out. Part of our Macy’s order is missing too. One was an estimated delivery of the 8th and its candy. Fingers crossed things keep arriving. It’s not hurry for anything but I always worry things will get damaged.
For lunch we had gravlax with Norwegian flatbreads, cream cheese, capers, hard boiled eggs and red onion. I think the flatbreads are a seasonal cracker at Aldi and were great. Very crisp.
For dinner we made country style pork ribs in the slow cooker and shredded them for sandwiches on the leftover rolls from burgers. Matt made baked potatoes and coleslaw with leftover radishes, cabbage and red onion.
We watched the rest of The Wilds. We also made cornflake wreaths with coconut added.
